1 dead, 14 houses destroyed in Iloilo fire

ILOILO CITY, Philippines — A man was killed and at least 14 houses were destroyed in a fire that hit a residential area in Barangay Bakhaw, Mandurriao district in this city yesterday.

The fatality was identified as Cris Vincent Mauricio, 43, who was reportedly sleeping at the house where the fire reportedly originated.

Fire probers said electrical overload could have caused the fire.

In Batad town, a fire broke out at the public market also yesterday. Damage was initially placed at P9.5 million.
