4 drug suspects slain in Luzon

MANILA, Philippines — Four drug suspects were killed in alleged shootouts with police officers in Bulacan and Laguna over the weekend.

Marlon Garcia and an alias Raymond allegedly resisted arrest during a sting in Barangay Mabalas-balas, San Rafael, Bulacan at dawn yesterday.

The suspects reportedly pulled out their guns and shot at the officers, triggering a firefight that resulted in their death, according to Col. Chito Bersaluna, Bulacan police director.

Probers said they seized from the suspects eight plastic sachets containing shabu, two pistols and a motorcycle.

In Laguna, Noel Bola reportedly drew his gun after sensing that he was dealing with undercover agents in Sta. Rosa City yesterday morning.

The suspect was on the watchlist of the city police, according to  Col. Eleazar Matta, Laguna police director. 

Probers recovered a .45 caliber pistol, a plastic sachet said to contain shabu and marked money from the suspect.

A day before, Ferdinand Reflan allegedly engaged police officers in a shootout that resulted in his death in Barangay Malaban, Biñan City.

In Iloilo City, motorcycle-riding assailants shot dead drug surrenderee Lhuil Clemente as he was walking on Mabini street.

Clemente died while being treated at the Iloilo Doctors’ Hospital. – Non Alquitran, Ed Amoroso, Emmanuel Tupas, Jennifer Rendon
