Manhunt on for robber in viral video
MANILA, Philippines — Police have launched a manhunt for a man who was seen in a viral video robbing a taxi driver in Caloocan City last week.
Emerson Gamba was charged with robbery before the city prosecutor’s office on Tuesday, according to Chief Inspector Joe Mar Ronquillo, the city police’s lead investigator.
Gamba was no longer at his residence in Barangay 24 in Caloocan, Ronquillo said.
Gamba had served a sentence for robbery and was released last year.
The video, captured by a dashboard camera, was posted on Facebook by Yasi Irwin Capellan.
She said her father-in-law, whom she identified as Wilmor, 59, was held up along Samson Road near the Caloocan police station on Feb. 22.
Capellan said Wilmor was robbed of his watch, cell phone, and P5,000 earnings.
She posted the video, which has garnered over 34,000 shares and 755,000 views, to expedite the identification and possible arrest of the suspect.
“So that people will also be aware of the face of the holdupper,” Capellan told The STAR yesterday.
