MANILA, Philippines — The National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) confiscated at least P60,000 worth of fake panty liners in a recent raid in Rizal province.

Armed with a search warrant from the Manila Regional Trial Court Branch 46, agents of the NBI Intellectual Property Rights Division led by Isaac Carpeso raided the office of Donna Mae Miranda, owner of Misumi Direct Sales, at Unit 5, Okinari Building on Circumferential Road in Antipolo City at around 2 p.m. on Feb. 9.

Miranda, who was not present during the raid, was charged with violation of Republic Act 8293 or the Intellectual Property law, which carried a penalty of two to five years imprisonment and fine from P50,000 to P200,000.

The raid stemmed from a complaint of the distributor of Shuya panty liners.

The NBI said their agents earlier bought samples of the contraband, which resulted in the search and seizure.
