8 Land Transportation Office fixers arrested in Quezon City
MANILA, Philippines — Eight suspected fixers at the Land Transportation Office (LTO) branch in Novaliches, Quezon City were arrested in an entrapment operation on Tuesday.
They were Ruben San Jose Jr., 41; Ronel Payonga, 36; Archie Sesbreno, 45; Renato Manlangit, 34; Dexter Tequin, 23; Ariel San Jose, 25; Alexander Fiesta, 43, and Leonil Macatuggal.
Chief Superintendent Joselito Esquivel Jr., director of the Quezon City Police District, said the suspects were collared during a sting in front of the LTO branch in Barangay Kaligayahan at around 10:20 a.m.
“The operation stemmed from an information by a concerned citizen and a newspaper article citing the presence of fixers near the LTO premises,” Esquivel said.
The suspects were nabbed shortly after they received P2,000 in marked money from a police officer for facilitating a transaction at the LTO.
They are being held at the QCPD District Special Operations Unit at Camp Karingal on charges of violating Republic Act 9485 or the Anti-Fixing Law.
