Erap orders closure of 2 Malate establishments
MANILA, Philippines — Reelectionist Manila Mayor Joseph Estrada has ordered the closure of two commercial establishments in Malate for violating environmental laws and city ordinances.
Estrada directed city administrator Erickson Alcovendaz to shut down Macktsang restaurant and Circle Hotel for operating without waste water treatment facility as well as sanitation and health certificates.
The mayor warned other business establishments in the city, especially those located along Manila Bay to comply with the ordinances or face closure.
“We are supporting the national government’s program to rehabilitate the polluted Manila Bay,” Estrada said.
Alcovendaz said five more establishments in Malate may be closed down if they fail to conduct corrective measures.
