P2.3 billion La Union bypass road project ongoing

SAN JUAN, La Union, Philippines — Public Works and Highways Secretary Mark Villar inspected yesterday the construction of a bypass road from Barangay Payocpoc in Bauang town to Barangay Ili Norte in this town.

Villar said that the project, which involves the construction of seven bridges, would reduce travel time from one hour to 30 minutes and benefit at least 20,000 motorists daily. 

Villar said the road project, which is at least 22 kilometers long with four lanes, is expected to be finished in 2022.
