NPA rebel killed in Misamis Occidental clash

MANILA, Philippines — A communist guerrilla was killed in an encounter with government troopers in Misamis Occidental yesterday.

Capt. Clint Antipala, chief information officer of the First Infantry Division, said an AK-47, three magazines and subversive documents of high intelligence value were recovered from the fatality.

Antipala said the clash occurred in Barangay San Pedro, Aloran at around 9:40 a.m. 

“A concerned civilian reported the presence of an armed group in their community while we are conducting... security operations,” Lt. Col. John Andrada, 10th Infantry Battalion commander, said. – Roel Pareño
