Man hacks to death, burns own father in Negros Occidental

BACOLOD CITY, Philippines —  For allegedly refusing to transfer ownership of his properties to his son, a farmer was allegedly hacked to death and burned in Salvador Benedicto, Negros Occidental on Tuesday.

Initial investigation showed that the incident occurred after Jun Jun Benarao, 36, had an argument with his father Gerardo, 55, at their residence in Sitio Kinabong, Barangay Igmaya-an.

Benarao also reportedly hacked his mother Sinona, 58, using a bolo. Sinona remains confined in a hospital in this city.

Police launched a manhunt for the suspect.
