6 dead in Luzon drug war

MANILA, Philippines — Three drug suspects were killed in drug busts in Cavite and Lucena on Monday  while three others were slain in Bulacan yesterday.

Police said Francisco Umali resisted arrest and shot a law enforcer who posed as a buyer of shabu in Barangay Talaba 4, Bacoor.

Roderick Jardio, 33, alias Nonoy, reportedly shot it out with anti-narcotics agents in Barangay 48A, Cavite City.

In Quezon, Dennis Valles was shot dead when he fired at police officers in Barangay Cotta, Lucena City.

Gilbert Cristobal, Rainer Sumcad and Buboy Mabuhay reportedly engaged police officers in shootouts in Barangay Guyong, Sta. Maria; Taal, Malolos, and Citrus, San Jose del Monte, respectively, in Bulacan.

Police said sachets of shabu, marked  money and guns were recovered from the fatalities.

Meanwhile, Josephrey Arellano, 37, a driver of the  second engineering district of the Department of Public Works and Highways in Cagayan Valley, was arrested in a drug sting in Tuguegarao, Cagayan on Saturday.

Businessman Jolito Largo, 40, was collared after  54.5 grams of shabu with an estimated street value of P500,000, a government-issued gun and drug paraphernalia were reportedly recovered in a raid on his house in Barangay Poblacion, San Fabian, Pangasinan on Sunday.

Superintendent Mary Crystal Peralta, Ilocos police spokesperson, said six other persons, including three minors, were arrested in a drug den also in San Fabian.

Two other minors were also among six persons arrested in anti-drug operations in Barangay Buscalan, Tinglayan, Kalinga also on Saturday. The suspects reportedly yielded sachets of dried marijuana leaves, hashish, marijuana stalk and shabu as well as a weighing scale and drug paraphernalia.

In Cagayan, John Cliff Quidez, 20, who  was arrested for allegedly slapping his former girlfriend for refusing to reconcile with him, reportedly yielded a sachet of shabu.
