Boy, 4, dies in Quezon City fire

Romina Cabrera - The Philippine Star

MANILA, Philippines — A four-year-old boy died in a fire that razed his family home in Quezon City on Sunday night.

Alexander Salar was sleeping and was trapped in the one-story house on Bolivar street in Barangay North Fairview when the fire started at around 9:39 p.m. His siblings had left the house to buy food.

The fire reached second alarm and destroyed eight other houses in the area before it was put out less than an hour later, said Senior Superintendent Jaime Ramirez, city fire marshal.

The fire caused an estimated P12,000 in structural damages.

Ramirez said the fire was caused by an unattended lit candle in the bedroom of one of the razed houses.
