3 drug, gunrunning suspects slain in Caloocan City

MANILA, Philippines — Two drug suspects and an alleged leader of a gunrunning group were killed in separate operations in Caloocan City on Tuesday night.

Romeo Carlos Jr., 36, suspected leader of Eman criminal group involved in gunrunning, car theft and  drugs, was shot dead in an alleged encounter with agents of the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group and Nothern Police District-Special Operations Unit.

Carlos allegedly sold an unlicensed firearm worth P20,000 to a policeman who posed as a buyer along Hipon street in Barangay 12.

His group allegedly operated in other cities in northern Metro Manila, probers said.

Police said they recovered from the suspect a .38-caliber handgun, ammunition and P15,000 worth of shabu.

Two suspected drug pushers, known only as Mike and Anthony, were killed by police in separate stings.

Four others were nabbed for alleged drug possession in Bagong Barrio, Caloocan. They were Marlon and Mark Anthony Ramat, Laurence Ang and Laarni Bañez.

The suspects allegedly yielded around 34 grams of shabu worth P70,000. – Emmanuel Tupas
