Magnitude 4.8 quake jolts Northern Luzon
MANILA, Philippines — A magnitude 4.8 earthquake shook parts of Northern Luzon on Monday night, the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology said.
The tremor occurred at about 8:55 p.m. and was centered a kilometer northwest of Bauguen, Ilocos Sur.
It was felt at Intensity 4, which is classified as moderately strong, in Santiago, Ilocos Sur as well as Currimao and Badoc in Ilocos Norte.
Vigan, Sinait, Magsingal, San Vicente, Cervantes, San Ildefonso, Burgos, Caoayan, San Esteban, Sigay, San Juan, San Emilio and Nagbukel in Ilocos Sur felt the shaking at Intensity 3.
The tremor was felt at Intensity 2 in Baguio City.
No damage or aftershocks were reported from the quake, which had a depth of 84 kms.
