Batangas mayoral candidate arrested for harboring criminal

LEMERY, Batangas, Philippines — A candidate for mayor in San Nicolas town was arrested on Thursday for allegedly harboring the second most wanted person in Calabarzon.

Chief Superintendent Edward Carranza, Calabarzon police director, said Lester de Sagun, 40, was in a pickup with his bodyguard Miko Michael Caguitla, 26, in Barangay Bagong Sikat, Lemery when they were apprehended at around 10:20 p.m.

Carranza said Caguitla, who has a pending arrest warrant of arrest for murder, yielded a 9mm pistol and ammunition. 

The companions of De Sagun and Caguitla, Vicente Andal, 53, and businessman Exequiel Caringal Jr., 59, were also arrested.– Ed Amoroso
