6 NPA rebels killed in Camarines Sur clash

LEGAZPI CITY, Philippines —  Six New People’s Army (NPA) rebels were killed in an encounter with soldiers in  Tinambac, Camarines Sur yesterday.

Lt. Feliz Solano, Southern Luzon Command spokesman, said the clash occurred when soldiers on combat operations chanced upon some 15 NPA rebels in Barangay Lupi at around 6 a.m.

Solano said four M16 rifles, a grenade launcher and subversive documents were recovered from the fatalities.

There was no reported casualty among government troopers.

Solano said more rebels could  have been killed or wounded, citing bloodstains on their escape route.
