Cop killed in Batangas ambush

BATANGAS, Philippines — A policeman was killed when he was ambushed by a man riding a motorcycle in Tanauan City Friday evening.

Senior Superindent Edwin Quilates, Batangas police director identified the victim as PO3 John Melver Leyco, assigned in Sto Tomas Police Station. 

According to report, the victim was onboard his vehicle when the gunman stopped him upon reaching Barangay Poblacion around 6:00 p.m.

Leyco was rushed to the hospital but was declared dead on arrival by the attending doctor.

Witnesses said the suspect sped towards Barangay Pagaspas after the shooting

Police have yet to determine the motive and the people behind the killing.
