Cop held for firing ?gun in traffic row

MANILA, Philippines — A drunk police officer was arrested for allegedly using his firearm during a traffic altercation with a motorist in Quezon City on Monday.

Police Officer 1 Paul Evaristo, 27, assigned with the Marikina police, told probers he was on his way home on a motorcycle when Juan Abarca, 35, who was on another motorcycle, reportedly cut him off.

“He got off his motorcycle and confronted Abarca,” a police investigator said.

At the height of their argument, Evaristo took his 9mm pistol from his motorcycle’s compartment and fired at the ground.

Abarca fled and sought the help of Barangay Pansol officials.

The policeman was nabbed when he followed Abarca to the barangay hall, where he fired another shot in the air.
