Reds torch heavy equipment, vehicles in Quezon

REAL, Quezon – Suspected communist rebels burned heavy equipment and a shelter of workers at a mini-hydro dam project in Barangay Maragondon in this town on Monday.

Project manager Agustin Jaramillo said the rebels poured gasoline on three dump trucks, two back hoes, a generator set, a transit mixer, a loader, an L300 van and a Mitsubishi Strada before setting them on fire.

The workers, who were unharmed, said around 10 rebels surrounded them. – Ed Amoroso, Jaime Laude
