Drunk man ran over by ambulance

TUGUEGARAO, Cagayan, Philippines — A farmer believed to be drunk died after he was run over by an ambulance rushing two children to a hospital in Barangay Toran, Aparri, Cagayan on Saturday. 

Police said Arthuro Talaña, a resident of Barangay Nagattatan, Allacapan, was lying on the middle of the highway when the accident occurred at around 2 p.m.

The ambulance driver, Edgar Fontillas, 43, chairman of Barangay Mapurao in Allacapan, brought Talaña together with his patients to the hospital. 

Talaña was later transferred to a private hospital, where he died while being treated. 

Fontillas was arrested.
