MANILA, Philippines — Police officers seized at least 25 assorted firearms in a raid on a house in Malabon City yesterday morning.

Officers from the city police’s Intelligence Branch, Special Reaction Unit and Police Community Precinct 2 searched the house of Ivan Lee Ong on Sampaguita street in Araneta Village, Barangay Potrero at around 10:30 p.m.

Charges of illegal possession of firearms and ammunition were filed against Ong, who is now the subject of a police manhunt.

The operation was covered by a search warrant issued by Malabon Regional Trial Court Branch 289 Judge Rhoda Magdalene Mapili-Osinada.

The lawmen found 18 .38 caliber revolvers, two .22 caliber pistols, four shotguns and a .45 caliber pistol.

Ong was not present during the search. His mother told police the guns were intended for their security agency but failed to provide proof they own one.

Senior Superintendent Jessie Tamayao, city police chief, said the operation was an offshoot of their constant coordination with barangay officials, who told them Ong owns several unlicensed firearms.
