NAIA janitor returns envelope containing US dollar bills

Rudy Santos - The Philippine Star

MANILA, Philippines — Another honest janitor at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) returned yesterday an envelope containing US dollar bills.

Jeffrey Almoguerra, 30, an employee of Philcare Manpower Services, was doing his job at the NAIA Terminal 1 arrival area when he found the envelope near a foreign exchange shop.

Almoguerra reported the matter to a security guard, who accompanied him to the  lost and found section where the envelope was turned over.

Airport authorities were waiting for the  owner to claim the cash as of press time yesterday.

NAIA officials did not disclose the amount for confirmation by the claimant.

Ed Monreal, general manager of the Manila Intertional Airport Authority, said Almoguerra would be included in the roster of awardees in February for his honesty.

“We do this because we want airport employees to emulate simple yet noble deeds like what Almoguerra did,” Monreal said.
