MANILA, Philippines — The fourth nominee of Ako Bicol party-list yesterday took his oath as the newest member of the House of Representatives.

Speaker Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo administered the oath to Ronald Ang, who replaced Rodel Batocabe who was killed in a gun attack on Dec. 22.

Cristopher Co and Alfredo Garbin are the two other representatives of Ako Bicol.

Arroyo led the necrological rites for Batocabe at the House of Representatives on Monday.  She said Batocabe, who was supposed to run for mayor of Daraga in Albay “dared to confront the evil in Daraga at the cost of his life.”

“It is justice for Rodel if we support his advocacies for Bicol, education, health, population development, human rights and climate change,” Deputy Speaker Sharon Garin of AAMBIS-OWA party-list said.

Batocabe headed the 50-member party list coalition in the House.

Retired Supreme Court justice Vicente Mendoza joined other House leaders in delivering their eulogies for Batocabe.
