Former cop shot dead in Quezon City

Emmanuel Tupas - The Philippine Star

MANILA, Philippines — A former police officer was killed by motorcycle-riding men in Quezon City on Monday.

Glenn Bognot, who held the rank of Police Officer 3, was shot dead in Barangay Kaligayahan at around 8:14 p.m.

Director Guillermo Eleazar, chief of the National Capital Region Police Office (NCRPO), said Bognot has not reported for work since he was reassigned to Mindanao in 2016 from the Quezon City Police  District.

The 41-year-old Bognot was smoking a cigarette in
front of his house when the assailants appeared.

In a police report, the back rider asked Bognot his name. When the victim answered, the assailant pulled out a handgun and shot him multiple times on the body.

It is unclear if Bognot was shot in the back. His mother, for unknown reasons, asked investigators not to examine his corpse.
Probers recovered six bullet casings and six deformed slugs from a handgun of unknown caliber at the scene.
Probers have yet to establish the motive behind the shooting.
