1 dead, 29 arrested in Metro Manila drug ops
MANILA, Philippines — At least one person was killed and 29 others were arrested in anti-illegal drug operations in various parts of Metro Manila over the past two days.
Alleged pusher Reger Penelleri was shot dead during a drug sting in Barangay Gen. T. de Leon, Valenzuela at around 2:30 a.m. yesterday. He reportedly fired at police officers during the operation.
His alleged customer, Anthony Carval, was arrested.
Police recovered a loaded .38 caliber revolver and four 9mm bullet casings at the crime scene and 11 sachets of methamphetamine hydrochloride or shabu from the slain suspect.
In Caloocan, Peld Suarez, 30, was arrested for trying to avoid a police checkpoint as he was driving a motorcycle along Camarin Road Friday night.
Police frisked the suspect and confiscated 10 grams of shabu with a street value of P32,000.
In Makati, former United States Marine and correction officer Ronald Ang, 51, was reportedly caught using shabu in Barangay Tejeros along with Roy Allan Altar, 40.
Police seized a sachet of shabu, a sachet of marijuana and drug paraphernalia along with Ang’s vehicle, said Chief Superintendent Gideon Ines Jr., city deputy police chief.
Twenty-five more persons were arrested in Marikina, Pasig and Quezon City and P148,000 worth of shabu seized in separate stings. – Robertzon Ramirez, Emmanuel Tupas
