MANILA, Philippines — Two Chinese men were rescued from their kidnappers on separate occasions in Muntinlupa and Pasay, the Philippine National Police-Anti-Kidnapping Group (PNP-AKG) said yesterday.

AKG director Chief Superintendent Glenn Dumlao identified the victims as Kang Xintong and Zapping Yang.

Xintong escaped from a safe house in Barangay Poblacion in Muntinlupa City on Dec. 29  at around 4 p.m. He led police to the suspects’ hideout, which was abandoned by his captors, one of whom he was identified as Pan Sijia.

Meanwhile, policemen rescued Yang and arrested five suspects at a hotel in Pasay City on Dec. 26 at around 10:20 p.m.

Yang told police the suspects kidnapped him while he was playing at a casino in Parañaque City and offered him P200,000 worth of casino chips.

When he lost, the suspects brought him to a room and demanded 30,000 renminbi for his release. He called his girlfriend, who in turn sought the help of police.

Zhou You Liung, Chang Chang Chun, Yu Jiang Yang, Ao Peng Liang and Yang Yu Qi are facing charges of kidnapping for ransom with serious illegal detention filed before the Department of Justice.
