Drug-crazed man kills father in Caloocan City
MANILA, Philippines — A family in Caloocan City started the New Year on a tragic note after a 27-year-old man, said to be high on drugs, reportedly killed his father on Monday night.
Rhenzie Magbanua allegedly killed his 54-year-old father, Lito, by strangling him and hitting him with a metal tube at their house in Camarin, according to police.
The victim, a former village watchman, had suffered a stroke.
The suspect was allegedly drunk and high on drugs when he committed the crime, probers said.
The family said they let Rhenzie off the hook when he killed his mother, Imelda, by smashing her head with a blunt object on Nov. 2, 2017.
Rhenzie’s sister Rhona, 19, said they kept mum about the murder of their mother because it was her dying wish not to have him arrested for her death.
The suspect underwent inquest proceedings before the city prosecutor’s yesterday.
