MANILA, Philippines — Two persons died after being hit by trains of the Philippine National Railways (PNR) in Manila and Parañaque, police said yesterday.

Remy Orlino, 55, a foreman at construction firm DM Consunji Inc., died at the scene after he was struck by a PNR train near the Beata station in Pandacan at around 6:20 a.m.

A witness, Teodo Domitibo, told authorities Orlino was crossing the rail tracks when he was hit by the train.

In Parañaque, Emilina Duran, 65, was crossing the PNR rail tracks in Barangay San Martin de Porres when she was sideswiped by the train on Tuesday night.

Duran was pronounced dead on arrival in the hospital.
