Spaghetti downs 133 at Christmas party in Surigao del Sur

BUTUAN CITY, Philippines — At least 133 persons, mostly students of the St. Christine Elementary School in Lianga, Surigao del Sur, fell ill after eating spaghetti served during their Christmas party on Monday.

Thirty-one of the victims remained confined at the Lianga District Hospital on Tuesday. They complained of abdominal pain, vomiting and diarrhea.

The municipal health office took samples of the spaghetti for examination.
