Carpenter hacked over cabinet design
MANILA, Philippines — A misunderstanding on the design of a cabinet led a 77-year-old man to attack a carpenter hired by his daughter in Marikina City Friday night, an official said yesterday.
Amador Dumdum hacked Eusebio Bersamina on the back after the carpenter stopped constructing the cabinet and packed his tools, Eastern Police District (EPD) director Chief Superintendent Bernabe Balba said.
Bersamina also sustained wounds on his right hand when he defended himself as Dumdum tried to hack him again, Balba said.
Bersamina was hired by Dumdum’s daughter Janeth to construct a cabinet following the design she made, but the father allegedly disagreed with it and insisted that the carpenter follow his design, according to Balba.
He said the city’s rescue personnel rushed Bersamina to the hospital as he sustained lacerations on his back and his right hand while Dumdum was arrested shortly after the police arrived at the crime scene.
