Cop gunned down in Taguig

MANILA, Philippines — A policeman investigating a robbery was shot dead by still unidentified assailants in Taguig City Thursday night, the Southern Police District (SPD) said yesterday.

Police Officer 1 Arnel Taccaban, 35, of the Taguig police intelligence section, and his colleagues were investigating the robbery in Gawad Kalinga when they chanced upon the suspects, according to Chief Superintendent Eliseo Cruz, SPD director.

Taccaban, who was hit in the left shoulder, was declared dead on arrival at the Taguig Pateros Hospital, Cruz said.

The SPD is hunting down Taccaban’s killers, Cruz added.
