NDF consultant’s wife freed from detention
MANILA, Philippines — The wife of National Democratic Front (NDF) consultant Rey Claro Casambre was freed on Tuesday.
Patricia Casambre, 65, was released from the detention cell of the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (CIDG) at Camp Crame in Quezon City at around 4:30 p.m.
Prosecutor Johnny Umpong signed a release order for the couple pending a preliminary investigation on the complaint filed against them by the CIDG.
The couple’s lawyer, Rachel Pastores, said Rey Claro remained in jail since he has a pending arrest warrant for murder and attempted murder issued by a court in Davao Oriental.
The Casambres were arrested in a Toyota Vios while traversing Molino Boulevard in Bacoor, Cavite on Dec. 7.
Police claimed that the couple was in possession of a .45-caliber pistol and a hand grenade.
