2 cops, 5 others held for illegal cockfight

MANILA, Philippines — Two police officers and five civilians were arrested by the Counter-Intelligence Task Force for illegal cockfighting in Manila on Friday morning.

Police Officers 2 Melchor Rawis and Emerson Frutas were arrested along Road 10 in Rawis, Tondo just before noon following complaints by barangay officials, who alleged that the lawmen protected illegal cockfighting operations.

The CITF recovered a .45 caliber pistol, a 9mm Glock pistol, ammunition, two fighting cocks, two gaffing blades, and P15,000 bet money from the policemen.
