Man shoots aunt over land row

MANILA, Philippines —  A hotel employee allegedly shot his 65-year-old aunt in Pasay City on Friday, reportedly because of a dispute over some properties, an official said yesterday.

Juan Tengco, 35, fled after shooting Hilda Lanuza from behind as she was cooking, according to Senior Superintendent Alex Santos, Pasay police chief.

Lanuza was rushed to the San Juan de Dios Hospital, where she was treated for a gunshot wound in the nape. She was discharged hours later.

Santos said they are looking into a dispute over family properties as among the motives for the attack.

He said they are hunting down the suspect.
