2 die, 5 hurt in accidents
TUGUEGARAO CITY, Cagayan, Philippines — Two persons died while five others were wounded in separate accidents involving motorcycles in Delfin Albano and Alicia, Isabela on Saturday.
Warren Abalos, 21, came from a drinking spree when he figured in a collision with a tricycle driven by John Cabaddu, 17, along the national highway in Barangay Aga, Delfin Albano at around noon.
Abalos swerved to the opposite lane along a sharp curve and collided with Cabaddu and his two passengers – his father George Cabaddu Sr., 57, and brother George Jr., 26.
The three, including Abalos and his companion Michael Mendoza, 17, were rushed to Delfin Albano Memorial Hospital where Cabaddu Sr. was pronounced dead on arrival.
In Alicia town, Michael Paringit died on the spot when his motorcycle was hit by a Mitsubishi Adventure driven by Michael Caasi, 34, in Barangay San Fernando at around 6 p.m.
Paringit swerved to the opposite lane after avoiding another motorcycle but was hit by Caasi head-on.
Paringit and Melissa dela Peña, 14, were rushed to a private hospital where he was pronounced dead on arrival.
Caasi surrendered to the police after the incident.
