Soldiers overrun Ifugao New People’s Army camp
BAGUIO CITY, Philippines — Army soldiers overran a camp of the New People’s Army (NPA) following an encounter in Sitio Lab-ong, Barangay Namal, Asipulo, Ifugao at around 7 a.m. on Wednesday.
Government troopers also recovered a K3 squad automatic weapon, three M16 rifles, an M203 grenade launcher, improvised explosive devices, cellular phones, bomb materials, three NPA flags, a generator set, subversive documents and food items from the rebel camp.
The military said two rebels, identified only as Rambo and Hadji, surrendered and turned over two hand grenades, a rifle grenade, magazines with ammunition, an M16 rifle and a Garand.
Four other rebels, one of them identified as squad leader Nona del Rosario, alias Cindy, also surrendered to the 54th Infantry Battalion.
