Duterte renews franchise of 3 broadcast firms

MANILA, Philippines — President Duterte has signed into law a bill that renews the franchises of Manila Broadcasting Co. (MBC) and two other broadcast firms for another 25 years.

Duterte signed Republic Act 11109 or the law renewing the MBC franchise on Oct. 30.

MBC is under the Fred J. Elizalde Group of Companies and operates radio stations dzRH, Love Radio, Yes FM, Easy Rock, Hot FM, Aksyon Radyo and Radyo Natin.

Also signed on the same date were RA 11110, which renews the franchise of Bright Star Broadcasting Network Corp., and RA 11111, which renews the franchise of Vanguard Radio Network Co.

Bright Star runs Like FM while Vanguard operates Big Sound FM.
