SoKor tourist drowns

MANILA, Philippines — A South Korean tourist drowned at a diving spot in Puerto Galera, Oriental Mindoro on Saturday.

Bong Hwan Ryu, 54, was found floating at the Canyon Dive site in Barangay Sabang at around 10 a.m.

Bong was declared dead on arrival at the Puerto Galera Hospital.

Meanwhile, in Cavite, two sisters and their cousin drowned in a river in General Trias City on Friday.

Fatima Salas, 11, was declared dead on arrival at the Geam Hospital, while her sister Cristina and their cousin Gergen, 7, died while being rushed to the MV Santiago Hospital.

The girls were swimming in the Matandang-Ilog River in Barangay Pasong Kawayan 2 when Fatima was carried away by the current.

Cristina tried to save her sister, but she too was swept away.

Gergen tried to rescue her cousins, but she too drowned. – Emmanuel Tupas
