Napolcom probes hazing in Cavite
MANILA, Philippines — The National Police Commission (Napolcom) is investigating an alleged hazing incident in a police training facility in Cavite.
A video clip of the alleged incident, which was aired over dzMM’s Teleradyo yesterday, showed a police officer hitting with a baseball bat several policemen undergoing training.
A rookie police officer has accused Superintendent Alex Dimaculangan, operations units chief of the Cavite police, of hitting him and other policemen using an aluminum baseball bat, Rogelio Casurao, Napolcom vice chairman, said in a phone interview yesterday.
Chief Superintendent William Segun, Cavite police director, suspended Dimaculangan while an investigation into the incident is ongoing.
The incident allegedly occurred sometime last September.
While the purpose could be to discipline the trainees, Casurao said inflicting physical injuries as a form of punishment is not allowed.
