2 dead in Negros Occidental road mishap

BACOLOD CITY , Philippines — Two persons were killed when a van fell into a canal after it crashed into a truck in Bago, Negros Occidental on Monday.

A passenger of the van and a truck helper, who have yet to be identified, died at the scene.

Initial investigation showed  that the van driven by Benjie Gamarza rear-ended a truck parked at the outer lane of the highway in Barangay Calumanggan at about 5 a.m.

Eleven other persons were injured and brought to the Bago City District Hospital.

Gamarza was taken into police custody.
