Former cop nabbed for murder

CAMP VICENTE LIM, Laguna, Philippines — A former police officer tagged as a principal suspect in a murder that occurred 15 years ago was arrested in Batangas City yesterday.

Former Police Officer 2 Mark Anthony Bugayong, 42, did not resist when anti-intelligence operatives arrested him at his home in Barangay Libjo, according to Superintendent Sancho Celedio, city police chief.

Bugayong went AWOL or absent without official leave after he was tagged in the murder of Arnel Macalindog in Barangay Cuta in 2003.

The suspect is reportedly a member of a group engaged in criminal activities, Celedio said.
