Moderately strong quake jolts Northern Samar

MANILA, Philippines — A magnitude 4.8 earthquake shook parts of Northern Samar yesterday, according to the Philippine Insitute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs).
The tremor, which occurred at around 2:34 a.m., was centered 13 kilometers southwest of Catarman town.
It was felt at Intensity 4, which is classified as moderately strong, in Catarman and Bobon.
The quake had a depth of 115 kms and was tectonic in origin.
Phivolcs said no damage or aftershocks were expected from the quake.
