The battle is on: Abby Binay vies for Makati seat to challenge brother Junjun
MANILA, Philippines — The rivalry of the two Binay siblings over the mayor seat of Makati has come to a head.
The STAR reported incumbent Makati Mayor Abigail “Abby” Binay on Wednesday formalized her bid for re-election on Wednesday, challenging her brother Jejomar “Junjun” Binay Jr.
Abby filed her certificate of candidacy with her running mate Monique Lagdameo, under United Nationalist Alliance (UNA) party-list.

Patriarch Jejomar Binay joined Abby in her filing. He earlier distanced himself from the sibling rivalry and said that the people of Makati would decide on who is more worthy to lead the city.
On Tuesday, Junjun—who served as Makati mayor from 2010 to 2015—filed his COC with his running mate Monsour del Rosario and others who will run as councilors under their tandem.
The eldest, Sen. Nancy Binay, came with Junjun.
Nancy said on Tuesday that she is closer with Junjun as she spent more time with him but she might not be able to join in the campaign of any of her siblings.
She said that she has her own campaign to run as she is seeking a re-election at the Senate.
