2 killed as fish truck rams vehicles in Zamboanga del Sur
The truck was bringing fish to Pagadian City when the accident happened.

ZAMBOANGA CITY, Philippines — A truck carrying fish rammed into seven vehicles in a busy street in Dumalinao, Zamboanga del Sur on Tuesday morning, leaving two people killed and seven injured.

Chief Superintendent Edwin de Ocampo, deputy chief of Police Regional Police Office 9, identified the fatalities as Ariel Napalcruz—driver of the fish carrier—and Mario Rola Balabag, driver of another truck involved in the crash.

Those injured were identified as: 

  • Cpl. Fedilo Nalzaro Tabotabo of the 44th Infantry Battalion
  • Liezel Pepito
  • Milky Magsayo
  • Juldan Ederosas Aiyadi
  • Simplicio Siao Noval Sr.
  • Esterlita Oberes Aselo
  • Ronie Oberes Aselo

De Ocampo said the fish truck had come from Zamboanga City and was bound for Pagadian City in Zamboanga del Sur when the accident happened.

Police Senior Inspector Niel Clifton Pugoy, Dumalinao police chief, the fish truck was speeding down the sloped road when its brakes malfunctioned. 

The truck rammed into cars, trucks, an Army 6x6 transport, and a motorcycle before coming to a stop.
