6 killed in Calabarzon shootings

CAMP VICENTE LIM, Laguna, Philippines — Six persons including three drug suspects were killed in separate shootings in Calabarzon (Cavite, Laguna, Batangas, Rizal and Quezon) on Saturday.

Gina Cervantes and her friends were having a drinking session during a fiesta in Barangay San Miguel 2, Silang, Cavite when unidentified men shot them on Saturday night.

Cervantes died while being rushed to the Silang Specialist Hospital where her friends – Melchard Liboon, Josel Fernandez, Jolito Tolico and Jocel Fernandez ­– were also taken for treatment of gunshot wounds.

In Laguna, drug suspects Michael Samson and Ariel Enesin, alias Batman, were killed after they reportedly exchanged fire with police officers in a sting in San Pedro district.

Former barangay watchman Ernesto Montalbo was refilling his motorcycle at a gasoline station in Batangas City when he was shot dead by motorcycle-riding men.

In Rizal, drug suspect Jeril Noblejas was walking in Barangay Mahabang Parang, Angono when he was shot dead at around 7 p.m.

Noblejas died at the scene from gunshot wounds in the head and body, according to Rizal police director Senior Superintendent Lou Evangelista.

Meanwhile, Ronaldo Dizon was standing in front of a restaurant in Candelaria, Quezon when he was gunned down.

Police have yet to determine the motives for the killings. – With Non Alquitran
