3 dead in Quezon road mishaps

CAMP NAKAR, Lucena City, Philippines — Three persons died while two others were injured in separate vehicular accidents in Quezon province on Saturday night.

Vicente Queño was driving a truck in Barangay Silangang Malicboy, Pagbilao town when he lost control of the wheel at  around 6: 30 p.m.

The truck collided with another truck and a tricycle. It then crashed into the garage of a barracks of the Department of Public Works and Highways and fell into a ravine.

Queño and his helper, whose name was not immediately available, died at the scene. Their companions – Vincent Capinan and Marvin Matarong – were taken to the Quezon Medical Center in Lucena City for treatment. 

Meanwhile, in Plaridel town, Connie Engalan, 46, was driving a motorcycle when it collided with a bus along Maharlika Highway in Barangay Tumagay.

Driver Noel Pasa of the Raymond  Bus reportedly tried to overtake, causing him to hit the motorcycle.

Engalan was declared dead on arrival at the Gumaca District Hospital.
