4 held for stealing TV station’s camera lens

Romina Cabrera - The Philippine Star

MANILA, Philippines — Four people who allegedly stole a camera lens and accessories from a television station and sold them online were arrested in Quezon City over the weekend.

Zandro Cereno, 40, Jimmy Rabino, 37, Rocky Camua, 40, and Telesforo Bautista, 47, were caught in an entrapment operation in front of a fastfood restaurant in Cubao on Sunday.

Cereno was said to be an LED video operator while Rabino was an audio man for ABS-CBN, which sought help from police.

The camera lens, which was confirmed to be stolen through its serial number, was sold for less than half of its original price of P330,000.

Cereno and Camua were arrested in a follow-up operation in Quezon City and Cavite after Rabino confessed to the crime.

A total of P180,000, said to be part of their earnings from selling other stolen camera accessories, were seized from the two.

They face charges for violating Presidential Decree 1612 or the anti-fencing law.
