Bomb threats hit University of Santo Tomas, Mapua
MANILA, Philippines — Classes were disrupted in two universities in Manila due to bomb threats, police reported yesterday.
Members of the Manila Police District Explosives and Ordnance Disposal rushed to the University of Sto. Tomas along España after it received a bomb threat at around 11:30 a.m.
But after a check by police, the bomb threat turned out to be a hoax.
On Tuesday, the Mapua University in Intramuros suspended classes and office work because of a bomb scare, MPD spokesman Superintendent Carlo Manuel said.
Text messages about a bomb threat circulated, prompting Mapua students and employees to leave the school premises.
Authorities searched the school but did not find any explosive.
Classes in Mapua resumed yesterday.
