TV5 news crew reported missing in Cagayan after 'Ompong' onslaught is safe
MANILA, Philippines — The news team of TV 5 reported missing after the onslaught of Typhoon Ompong is now safe.
The TV station confirmed the news on Sunday.
Early Sunday, a radio report said three members of TV 5, which include reporter Romel Lopez, his cameraman and production assistant, could not be contacted for 24 hours.
TV 5’s Bimbo Santos told dzBB that the television network already reported the incident to the National Disaster Risk and Reduction Management Council. The incident was also reported to the Philippine National Police.
Santos said members of the news crew last reported they were located in Santa Ana, Cagayan, among the typhoon-stricken areas.
The network, however, updated that the reported missing crew members already communicated with the management to say they were safe.
The news crew is reportedly traveling to Tuguegarao with the group of veteran journalist Ed Lingao. — Rosette Adel
