CAAP: Military air drills in Negros ongoing

BACOLOD CITY, Philippines — Military air exercises over Negros island are ongoing, the Civil Aviation Authority of the Philippines (CAAP) confirmed yesterday.

In an interview over MBC Aksyon Radyo, Ofelia Leonardo, CAAP public information officer based in Silay, said the CAAP main office informed them that the military exercises would be held until Sept. 26.

Leonardo said military planes would make a fly-by from 4 p.m. to 10 p.m.

She did not say if the drill is between the United States Armed Forces and the Armed Forces of the Philippines as earlier reported.

Leonardo also denied reports of a plane crash due to the air drills on Thursday night, saying all passenger planes in the region have been accounted for.
