3 arrested for illegal recruitment in Caloocan, Bulacan

Non Alquitran - The Philippine Star

MANILA, Philippines — Three persons were arrested in separate operations in Caloocan City and Bulacan yesterday for allegedly duping jobseekers by offering them non-existent jobs in Japan.

Mark Jeff Biernes, 44; Susan Talosa, 56, and Jerome Palosa, 24, did not resist when they were apprehended by the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (CIDG).

They recruited applicants as officials of Baustky Recruitment Agency, whose office address is at Phil-Am Building on Mindanao Avenue in Quezon City, said Senior Superintendent Eleazar Matta, CIDG-National Capital Region chief.

The three suspects were the subjects of an arrest warrant on charges of large-scale recruitment issued by Judge Arturo Malabaguio of the Quezon City Regional Trial Court Branch 93.

“They charged each applicant P80,000 for a job as a laborer in Japan” but failed to send the applicants there, Matta said, adding that the suspects were unable to return the money to the applicants.
